Return

April 18, 2009 was a great day for the Knights of Columbus of Collingwood, Wasaga Beach and Stayner. The Knights had the pleasure of sharing Earth Day weekend with our Honourable Mayor Chris Carrier, Jean Vanier High School Collingwood Vice Principal Bill Ironside, Chaplain Ms. Giannini and students Kelly, Tamara, Levi, Alex and Sarah.

Stretching from Highway 26 in Collingwood to Joe's store, they teamed up to clean up rubbish. It turned out to be extra special this day. Student Kelly Ironside stumbled upon a wallet lost by a Meaford resident. Kelly was shocked when she opened the wallet to find a substantial amount of cash, cards, ID and other personal belongings. Surprised and humbled, she returned the wallet through the OPP.

Something else special happened this day. The Knights have been cleaning this section of Hwy 26 for a number of years and have never experienced such low levels of garbage to be picked up. I believe residents really care and should be congratulated.
