The purpose of this page is to honour the memory of those Canadians who answered their
country's call,
who served, fought, and
all too often died, to preserve freedom and a way of life for future generations of
Canadians.
In addition, many others gave their lives in support of peacetime operations, performing the dangerous but necessary missions to preserve peace. In addition to the contents of this page, links are provided to some excellent sites which give a broader perspective of the meaning of Remembrance Day for Canada. On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, please set aside a moment to give silent tribute to those who gave unselfishly of themselves, asking nothing in return, but that we should remember.
This site will remain accessible on PDI's main web site at all times. |

Following are links to some very moving videos which combine the sights and sounds of remembrance to remind us that in a democracy, freedom is never free but is secured only through the sense of duty, commitment, honour, dedication and support of its citizens. Each of these videos will open in a new window. Simply close that window to return to this page.

Our Heritage Preserved |
The Veteran It was the Veteran, not the reporter, Who has given us freedom of the press. It was the Veteran, not the poet, Who has given us freedom of speech. It was the Veteran, not the lawyer, Who has given us the right to a fair trial. It was the Veteran, not the police, Who has given us the right to be secure in our persons. It was the Veteran, not the campus organizer, Who has given us the right to demonstrate. It is the Veteran, not the politician, Who defends our Nation
